This year, we proudly celebrate a significant milestone—20 years of Masaka School for the Deaf. Two decades ago, we began a journey rooted in hope, determination, and the belief that deaf and hard-of-hearing children deserve access to quality education and a meaningful future. Today, we look back on that journey with gratitude, pride, and joy.
What started as a humble effort has grown into a beacon of hope for deaf education in Uganda. Over the years, the school has become more than just a learning institution. It is a vibrant community built on the resilience, love, and commitment of many—teachers, parents, sponsors, staff, friends, and most importantly, the learners themselves.

Her Royal Highness The Nabagereka of Buganda graced the event as the Guest of Honor
We recognize that no achievement stands alone. Our success is the result of many hands and hearts working together. From the dedicated teachers and staff who give their all, to the sponsors and partners who believe in our mission, to the families who entrust us with their children’s futures—each one has played a role in making this 20-year journey possible. And of course, we are endlessly inspired by our learners, whose courage, curiosity, and passion continue to push us forward.
Guided by our mission—“To enable children who are deaf and hard of hearing to live a meaningful life in the future by providing them with education and equipping them with essential life skills”—we’ve remained committed to nurturing both academic excellence and practical skills. From basic vocational training to building confidence and self-worth, every step has been about empowering learners to thrive.
We’ve witnessed powerful success stories. Stories of children who overcame stigma and discrimination, broke barriers of low self-esteem, and pursued their dreams with courage. These are the stories that fuel our work and affirm our belief in the potential of every child.
As we celebrate 20 years, we do so not just to honor the past—but to renew our commitment to the future. We look ahead with optimism, ready to continue the work, expand our impact, and reach even more children with the education and support they deserve.
To everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you. Your belief in our vision has carried us this far. Here’s to the next chapter of growth, inclusion, and transformation.
SPONSOR A CHILD
At Masaka School for the Deaf, we are dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged Deaf children by providing them with education. We have been doing this since 2005. However, we cannot do this alone. We need your support to continue this vital work. We invite you to help us change lives by paying school fees for a Deaf child. You can afford it, and many of your friends are doing it.
