About Masaka SNEThis is Our Story
Who We Are
Masaka School for Children with Special Needs (Masaka SNE) is an educational establishment devoted to the education of profoundly deaf and hearing impaired children at Pre Primary and Primary education level. Masaka SNE was built by African Families Support Services (AFSS), a Charitable Organization founded by Francis Kamulegeya and Sophie Kafeero. AFSS is registered in Uganda as a Company Limited by Guarantee.
The school provides education, care, vocational skills training, and general welfare to children, as well young adults who have hearing and speech impairments and those affected by HIV/AIDS. We started operations in 2005 and run well managed boarding facilities catering exclusively for children with speech and hearing impairments as well as other learning disabilities.
Why We Do What We Do
To create a safe learning environment that allows children and young people of the deaf community to break the world of silence and learn sign language as well as vocation skills for future independent living and self-employment
To enable children who are deaf and hard of hearing live a meaningful life in future by providing them with education and equipping them with essential life skills.
Life Skills Too
As well as providing education to these children, Masaka SNE also runs an active program of educating and supporting the families of these children in order to help them cope better and provide the necessary care, love and welfare to their children. Through activities such as drama, sports, agriculture the school encourages the involvement of the students in order to help them be able to support themselves for life after they leave school.
