There’s certainly still a lot we need to get done in regard to our vision, mission, and overcoming the numerous challenges at Masaka SNE. That said, there is a series of accomplishments and milestones worth noting that have occurred over the years. We would like to share a few below;

Primary education for 1,266 pupils in 16 years

Firstly, it’s important to note that we have progressed from the lower classes we started with (Primary 1 to 4) to the current state where we have classes from Primary 1 to Primary 7 is worth noting. Out of the total pupils who have enrolled at the school for primary education, 182 pupils have persevered all the way to Primary 7 and sat their Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) leaving the school with a PLE academic certificate.

Out of the 182 pupils who have sat their PLE exams at the school since the school opened, 16 have completed Senior Four (S.4), 8 have completed Senior Six (s.6) and 5 have gone all the way to graduate from the University; Out of the many pupils who have attended school at Masaka SNE, 6 pupils have come back to work in various capacities at the school and are currently part of the school’s staff;

Better parent & community engagement

Over 500 parents and guardians have been taught the basics of sign language; The school’s teachers, care workers and sign language interpreters carry out home visits for child and parental support as when necessary.

Parents and guardians no longer. “dump” their deaf children at the school anonymously as was the case when the school had just started, but they bring the children to school at the beginning of the school term for enrollment, and they pick up their children when School closes for holidays. In addition, the number of parents visiting during the school visitation days has increased from about 10 from four years ago to an average of 50 every visitation day.

Better self-sustenance.

One of the biggest achievements is the fact that the School is to a great extent now sustaining itself with regards to the feeding needs of the Pupils. This has been achieved as a result of the extensive farming activities the School currently does on Mr. Kamulegeya’s farm land and the produce of which all goes to feed the pupils in the school.

SPONSOR A CHILD

The “Sponsor-a-Child” program has been in operation since 2008 and the school is most grateful for the support received so far. Be part of this drive.
